Weldone Traffic Police!

Traffic police officers have become a common scene on my way to Colombo from Piliyandala. I initially thought that this could be attributed to a special incident or so. But later I realized that this is not the case. They are on the road even at 6.30 am, doing their duty.

Even women police constables are seen commanding traffic on the roads.

This is a very good development in reducing road traffic accidents. The great service rendered by traffic police officials need to be appreciated.

U.S. Embassy Reopens for Normal Operations

Powder, not a danger: investigation reveals

Investigation determined that the powder did not pose a danger. 
Colombo, June 30, 2008: The U.S. Embassy in Colombo, which has been closed to the public since June 25 after a suspicious powder was found, will reopen for normal operations Tuesday, July 1, after an investigation determined that the powder did not pose a danger. Visa and other appointments postponed by the closure are being rescheduled on an individual basis.

Thanks for those who participated in the poll. Surprisingly, none of the voters thought that the powder could be an inert substance! It is good to be on alert mode always.
